Look Of The Week - Plus A Boho Chic Style-Guide

Boho chic is obviously one of my favorite styles at the moment. It’s the way I like to style myself but what actually is boho chic? Do you already know it?

Boho chic is a style of fashion drawing on various bohemian, gypsy and hippie influences. It
combines colorful, detailed, folk-inspired pieces with simple, modern pieces.

So now we all know what’s boho chic… ;-)

Reflecting on the fashion style of boho chic I combined my  “Look of the week” with a front knotted crop top in floral print, a white shorts and my new peep toe ankle boots. On top I jazzed it up with a long necklace with some brown suede details and my beloved fingering with a turquoise stone . By wearing my brown, floppy prim hat I tried to give the look a folk inspired touch.

I wore this combo last weekend and this top has been one of my fav’s this summer. I really like the color and the neckline . It’s also a great piece that will transition into fall. You can combine it perfectly with a cozy woolen cardigan or a denim jacket. What I also love are all the comfy, cute shorts. Who doesn’t love a pair of shorts that can leave the house or be worn as loungewear. I have these pair for years and still happy that I did this purchase, I don’t know, maybe 4 years ago.

Fall is around the corner and these pair of suede open toe booties are the ideal fall shoes for the transition. I love this pair from Stradivarius. The color is a beautiful nude tone. Let elongate your legs, due to the heel and the color. I always like to combine suede boots with a skinny blue jeans or a hot shorts.

Actually it’s easy going to style that boho chic but sometimes you may have some challenges and it’s hard to pull it off. Thats why I ask myself: “Wouldn't it be great if you had a simple, easy guide to help you nail your own bohemian style?”

That’s why I prepared a boho chic style-guide to give you a little support.

So let's dive right in to the boho chic style essentials:

  1. Maxi Skirt: When building your boho inspired wardrobe, maxi skirts are an absolute must-have staple piece in order to create the perfect boho chic style. They are available in a variety of colorful or printed styles. The perfect maxi skirts for the boho trend will be a pleated style. Simply style your maxi skirt with a complimentary cami top, printed tee or bardot top for the perfect summer-ready look.

  2. Maxi Dress: Maxi dresses make the ideal layering pieces during the summer months. Bohemian-styled maxi dresses can come in a variety of solid colors and earthy paisley prints. Style your maxi dress with a distressed denim jacket and strappy pair of sandals to create the perfect boho style for warm summer days.

  3. Chunky Knitted Cardigans : Will make great layering and can also be worn comfortably throughout fall, winter and spring. For a more bohemian look try opting for a lacy knit, this will give that kind of see-through look to the item. They make great layering pieces, and are light enough to wear during the fall, winter, and spring.

  4. Tunic: Tunics are what’s thought of when you say the word "bohemian" so this is definitely something you may want to equip your wardrobe with. With so many different styles and colors, which all look beautiful, so you have the chance to be really creative and tasteful on this one.

  5. Boho Style Top: Peasant tops or blouse aren't at the peak of their popularity anymore, but are still regarded a staple for girls with earthy styles. Embroidered tops are great for this also! Try checking at any vintage or retro stores.

  6. Floppy Brim Hat: Floppy hats are gorgeous and they are perfect for the boho summer look. The most common colors are beige's, light browns, burgundy and black, but go with what you feel like! I absolutely love this brown coloured floppy brimmed felt hat, add the perfect gypsy flair to any fall or winter outfit. Take a tip and pair one with high-waisted skinny jeans, wedges, a cropped top, and an open button-down shirt.

  7. Boho Style Bag: This will be down to your personal taste but you can opt for a leather style one, suede, or soft cloth type material. Whether you prefer distressed leather or fabrics, fringe or suede, a tiny cross-body or an oversized hobo bag, having a reliable and fantastic bohemian purse is key to tying your outfit all together.

  8. Neutral-Colored Ankle Boots: It's up to you whether you want a heel or not, but make sure the heel isn't too high or skinny so your boots will stay comfortable. But the slouchy, distressed booties seem to be every boho girls staples.

  9. Sandals: Gladiator sandals are truly a godsend. They're the perfect answer to the flip flop dilemma and they're summery and light, yet they still look polished and fashionable
