An Embroidered Kimono Is The Answer To Your Bohemian Summer Style

Kimonos are perfect to wear on a summer day that’s not too hot or a spring-fall day that’s not too cold. They flutter through the breeze so perfectly, and let’s be honest, they’re so damn pretty.

Inspired by traditional Japanese robes, contemporary kimonos have been given a modern update with prints, fringe, varying lengths and will give any outfit a cool, bohemian vibe. And if you think they’re only appropriate for music festivals, that's not right: Kimonos can be worn with anything in your closet, from skinny jeans and heels or layered over a mini dress for some serious ’70s vibes.

In the summer, kimonos work really well with shorts, a plain tank top and a pair of suede booties.

I tried to be mindful with my color scheme. I kept more muted, pastel colors together. Although I like to wear comfy outfits, but I wasn't afraid to put on some statement earrings and a big belt, either.

Don't be afraid to mix and max fabrics, textures and designs. For instance, this kimono has a lace, embroidered detailing. I saw the fabric and knew this is the perfect one for a light and transparent kimono. So I bought the fabric and I sewed this kimono in one hour. Kimonos are so easy and fast to sew. I already made two of them but in different color and pattern.

This look is really simple to style, but in a great and suitable way. The tip is, just have fun with it. If you have been inspired by this look, then why not have a go at styling your own customised kimono? Would you like to know how to sew a kimono like this one?

Let me know in the comments if you like. If you are interested on how to sew a kimono I will prepare a DIY Tutorial.

Thanks a lot for passing by.
