Nothing Better Then A Vintage Denim Jacket And How To Repeat Outfits!
A while ago I discovered this vintage denim jacket from Levis in a second hand shop in Vecindario and I got this jacket for only 2€. That's why I didn’t think any further about this cheap piece of clothing, especially since you can combine denim jackets with everything.
And what can I say, it proved to be true. Since I have purchased it I wore it with many outfits. This jacket fits simply to every kind of style.
But today I would like to show you one of my special vintage outfits. I created that outfit especially for a bit colder days here on Gran Canaria.
I combined the jacket with one of my very old denim shorts, which I bought years ago in Cape Town at Cotton On, a t-shirt from a second hand shop which I got for 1€ and a grey checked oversized men's shirt, what I rented at the Canary Islands Wardrobe Rental. As the tee had a mens size and it was much too long for me, I just cropped it and now it fits perfect. I really liked that pattern, that’s why I thought, I can combine that tee well with some already existing garments.
Here in the winter time it can be a bit chilly as well, you may don’t believe it, but on that freezie day I wore black nylon tights under the denim shorts and my black combats-boots from last year. Here on my blog you will find a couple of outfits with these boots. Check them out you will see that I always tried to create different styles. The woolen cap, which is stolen from my husband, is also a super old item, we got it many years ago from Iriedaily.
I always like to mix and match different styles so I only added a belt and the leather chain to get a slightly boho effect.
Adding different styles helps to create easier a new outfit with the same or already existing garments. As if I would like to cut down on my fast-fashion habits or I also just cannot afford to buy a new outfit for every occasion, I found plenty of ways to refurbish old looks and make a once-worn ensemble look new.
As you may already know, I have been experimenting for a while on how to recycle my fashion items tucked away in my closet. Because clothes were meant to be worn out, not forgotten about after just one wear.
Here are 4 ways to repeat outfits without anyone noticing
1.) Switch things up with your outerwear. Whether it be a vintage denim jacket, a shaggy coat, a chenille sweater or a chunky knit cardigan, let your outerwear make the statement for you.
2.) Layering is everything. Layering it’s a really good dressing technique to refresh our outfits. For example, you should think about how you can layer a t-shirt, thin sweater, or button down under a dress or jumpsuit to create warmth and having different textures. This technique creates an illusion that the dress is a skirt or the jumpsuit a pants. So you can wear this dress or jumpsuit again but as a proper dress or jumpsuit.
3.) Be friend with a classic button down. Use a button down shirt of any kind and wear it open like a jacket. I especially love this look for both women and men who run warm and can peel it off and tie around their waist if need-be.
4.) When it comes to accessorizing, less is always more. Let’s keep our jewelry choices simple. We shouldn’t overdoing it with statement jewelry to re-wear an outfit. Reach for minimalistic, dainty jewelry to wear your favorite looks time and time again.
I hope this tips will help you to be also a proud “outfit repeater”. Because it’s totally ok to repeat your outfits. Wearing the same outfit more than once isn’t something that we shouldn't feel ashamed of. The biggest sartorial rule for me is to wear what I love. If I’m investing in an item, I want to be sure I’m wearing it as much as is humanly possible.
Moral of that is, if you like an outfit, repeat it!
I know I will.
Love,
Katy!
