How To Combine A Timeless Second Hand Piece With A Trendy Touch

As you already know, I have become an absolute “Second Hand” enthusiast when it comes to fashion. Since almost a year I’m more “Second Hand” than high or fast fashion. I really appreciate a good timeless second hand piece combined with a trendy touch.

It all started with my awareness of the fast fashion industry, which has formed over the last few years, and the desire to make a change in my everyday life regarding to this industry. That’s why for me buying second hand, which enables no new resources are being used, is a great option.

There is a piece of clothes being already produced somewhere in the world, sold and used then in some other parts of the world, and finally worn by another person, is awesome. This is the reason why buying second hand is a sustainable way and especially for everyone on a budget. It’s the best way to live a greener and eco friendly lifestyle without spending a fortune on new clothes.

Due to the lockdown all second hand shops are currently closed and online shopping is not an option. Because many online-shops don’t realize shipments to the Canary Islands, due to the custom zone and different taxes, which is more than ok, because it produces less CO2 emission. So this should be my last outfit with a timeless second hand piece for a while. Or I might be able to combine this timeless piece to another outfit?! I’ll let you know.

The black blouse is the key item of my outfit. It’s a soft falling blouse made of viscose fabric from Stradivarius. I really liked the blouse because the cut seemed interesting, with its raglan sleeves and open back part. Due to this cut it inspired me to create this outfit a little bit in 80/90s style, but with a modern touch.

I combined this timeless second hand blouse with my beloved slouchy pair of denim, which has a mixture of boyfriend and that kind of 90s style, together with my good old pair of Vans, which are always my all-rounder to give my vintage or second hand outfits a trendy touch. These most classic slip-ons from Vans I already own for some years, I actually can’t remember anymore when I purchased them.

Additionally I added the a black fedora hat and a couple of golden necklaces as accessories to creat that special 89s/90s look. The hat we bought two years ago, for the wedding outfit of my husband and the necklaces I got from a photo shooting, we did last year.

Now I would like to say something about this pair of denim. To be honest, it’s the only item I bought completely new a few weeks ago. Because I urgently needed a pair of jeans which are not broken. I’m super happy because they are really suitable, comfy and makes me look favourable. So it has been a good investment, which will accompany me for a long time, as my vans. I love it when things last forever, especially with timeless second hand pieces like the blouse.

Have you been transitioning your wardrobe into spring yet? Here it is getting quite fast. We already have temperatures around 25°C so it rather feels like summer than spring. I don’t mind it too much to be honest. In the next days I’m going to declutter my wardrobe and recombine the summer pieces I already have into new summer looks. Then I'll check out if I still need something new for this summer, If so, I would really like to order some summer pieces from a Fair-Fashion label.

Looking forward to step from the phase 0 to phase 1 of the lockdown period this weekend to enjoy slowly and step by step a little bit of freedom.

Loads of love,

Katy!
