Hippo‘s First Off-Road Tour To Explore The Great Outdoors Of Gran Canaria

3 weeks ago we could share the first off-road tour of our friends of @hippo_the_overlander. They recently bought this beautiful Land Cruiser 100 at the mainland of Spain and after just one week that „Hippo The Overlander“ has arrived we went on an off-road route through the mountains of Gran Canaria. Because they have already realized that exploring the Great Outdoors is the best! Nothing beats the thrill of an off-road adventure especially with good friends.

To make them familiar with off-road driving we showed them some beautiful places we already discovered 2 years ago! We had an epic overlanding trip, conquering rugged terrains and discovering hidden gems along the way. As you can See in the little clip.

As a reward, we found an incredibly great place for an overnight stay where we could open our roof top tents and enjoying the nature around us. Our dog Lotta was really pleased that the two accompanied us, because Lotta has already stayed with them for 2 weeks when we were on vacation.

We cocked together, shared experiences, exploring the area and having great conversations. A perfect first trip together and we are looking forward to many more.

Later that night, as we were about to climb into our tents to sleep, we realized that we had some visitors. Two birds of prey, like buzzards or Hawks, flew over our heads and had settled in the high pine trees nearby. From time to time they flew again over our heads and called to each other their unusual sounds. Of course it was difficult to fall asleep, but with earplugs it was no problem. This is also part of the game.

The next morning we hiked up a little hill and enjoyed our coffee up there with a beautiful view into the valley. Slowly we got hungry and prepared a rich and healthy breakfast together. Everyone contributed something. We had fruits with cottage cheese, scrambled eggs and bread and a large vegetable platter. It was delicious. We took our time and  had a slow morning. Around noon we packed the tents and after that we went for a little off-road driving practice. Dani saw a steep ramp nearby, which seemed to be used. So everyone could try to drive up and down once. Even Nadine ans me dared us and I must say, I like it more and more and I feel safer every time. Maybe someday I will go on an overland trip by myself.

What do you think, would you do that???
