Why Nature Makes Me Happy & A Little Tip For You To Reconnect

Sometimes I feel so overstimulated and overwhelmed about all the technology and speed we have nowadays. That’s why I’m so glad to have the opportunity having those micro trips with our Overlander. Being in nature without social media, without answering email’s or calls, brings me in the present. I really enjoy having no TV, no music, no reels or stories, or no podcast as background noise. Just silence and the sounds of nature. It brings me to unwind and lets me recharge my batteries and if I’m on top allowed to enjoy this magic view, then nature makes me happy.

When we are having a micro trip with “Lenny The Overlander” it ‘s not about good looking, being the smartest or the best at anything. It's about the essential things like having a walk through the forest, swimming in a mountain lake, cooking some soul food, eating slow, sleeping and recovering. Just being in the here and now. Absorbing nature in its purity and recharging in the process. Nothing more than nature gives me the opportunity to put my peace and calmness as I slow my pace so that I can breathe more deeply again and finding inner space to reconnect with myself and my partner. I start to soothe myself, care and love myself and others.

As overlander we may not have great comforts or luxuries, but we are happier with less than we have at home, with all the technology, luxuries and comforts. Actually, it's good to know that we don't need much to be happy. Because that takes away the fear of having to maintain our recent life in terms of comfort and luxury. I know we can live without those goods. That means if anything should happen in our life’s, like losing jobs, not getting enough money to live on, I know that I’m able to continue to live an “overland” life and living in nature without difficulty. Maybe we even become happier. However, Sometimes I still have to remind myself about it, when life sucks.

Too often we let ourselves get down by the pressure in this world.

I have a little tip for you. When you ever feel stressed and overwhelmed or overstimulated try to do one simple thing, try to slow your pace, slow you steps. You can trick your mind by walking more slow and take longer exhales, you gonna tell your body that it’s safe and that your are calm and by doing this you can reconnect with yourself, you can feel yourself again instead of being in your mind you have the chance to look around and be soothed by everything around you.

That’s why it’s so beneficial to go into nature and try it out or do something that brings you back home and connects you with yourself, like listing nice piano music, take a bath, having a walk, swim in the ocean, sing or dance. Just move yourself but slow to match you pace.

Love,

Katy
