Why I launched My First Look2 Ocean Online-Shop For Face Masks

I know, it’s been again a long time that I published a new blog post. But it’s so much going on right now, that I didn’t find the time and I honestly felt so empty due to the things occurring in the world the last past weeks. So I needed some time to reflect and think about my life. The time of retreat has improved a little bit my mood and I’m now looking forward positively to achieve my dreams and to reach my goals. In this crazy time is it not easy to have the confidence to start something new. But the human-being is generally known for developing or reinventing himself again. So check out what I came up with.

The Corona crisis has hit the film industry very hard, where my husband an me, both working as freelancer. Like so many other sectors we also don’t know when we gonna continue to shoot again.

That’s why I got randomly into the face mask business. At the moment all the face masks are in great demand. I actually started to sew some mask just for ourselves because I wanted to have a good one for me and my husband that we can reuse it. So I worked on making an improved version of all the masks you find everywhere right now. After a few attempts I have created in my opinion a really good face mask with a removable air filter and a perfect fit around mouth and nose. On the pics below you can see the ”Aloha”, “Bali” and “Single Malt” Face Mask.

I actually started sew them just for passing the time during the lock down and as a gift for my family and friends. But I got more and more inquiries and everyone who had one of my face masks said that I should definitely sell them. After much consideration, I simply dared. So my husband and me have created an online shop for my face masks, which I would like to present you proudly today.

It’s actually my first online-shop, which was launched here on my Look2 Ocean homepage a week ago. I’m so proud and happy that I could finally make that dream come true, which I have had for a long time.

Certainly without the help of my husband I couldn't have managed it, because he was so kind and helped me a lot with the setup of the online shop. Therefore I would like to thank him so much.

As a professional tailor, I always wanted to create my own clothes and of course to have your own fashion label. Actually I wanted to study fashion design after my graduation to the high-standart tailer. But as so often, I got a well-paid job where I worked happily for many years. But the creative work and the crafting of things has been always missing me. I have always sewn for myself and I can’t deny that the desire for my own label is after so many years still there. Due to the lockdown of the corona crisis I thought a lot about what I really would like to do.

And it came out that I really want to create my own fashion as always, but it just felt behind, over the last few years.

So to get started and to make it less complicated I decided to focus first on the face masks, because they are not as complicated as clothings and now it’s the best time for face mask. As well due to the shortage of masks and also to avoid waste of single-use products the fabric face mask is a good solution.

It started slowly but I got my first orders last week. Today I have already finished a bigger order of 15 masks and I’m still hoping for another big order, where I have just handed over a cost estimate. Keep your fingers crossed that I will get the order! Would be a really good start.

When we captured these pics I have just sewed the “Ethno” mask in female size. My face masks are available in male, female and kids designs. Especially for kids I have created 4 different sizes like age 3-5, age 6-8, age 9-11 and age 12-13.

Although I've just started on the masks I already or I still have so many creative ideas and dreams which I really would like to realize. Would be so cool when one day I could offer my own clothing label in my online shop. The idea is that I would like to create basic fair-trade garments made by ecological fabrics and I’m gonna sew the pieces only on request, not as mass-produced items to avoid overproduction.

I hope you enjoyed getting a little insight why I am sewing these face masks and what my goals or dreams are. Even if it takes years for me to achieve that dreams. I don't mind, because I love to be creative and I hope that I will have the opportunity to continue being creative. That’s why it would be so kind if you could support me and of course the environment by ordering one or two ;-) reusable face masks on my online shop. Because by wearing so many plastic gloves and single use masks we produce so many more waste now. In my opinion it doesn't have to be in times of Covid-19, especially since you have the possibility to get much more beautiful designed face masks, than these surgical masks.

Let’s make less waste and help that our planet can be allowed to recover.
